KYBA House League Selects

The KYBA's House League Selects teams are teams made up of house league players who tryout for the Select Team. A Select team can also be a house league 'All Star' team. Players are selected based on their ability and skills as well as their desire to play basketball, continue to learn the game and further improve their skills. Select program have strong focus on team development and team goals. Competitive players are not eligible to play on a Select team roster.


Effective 2005/2006 season, Basketball Ontario started with Select House League Division. The program was being created on a trial basis and will only be open to house league players at the Bantam and Major Bantam levels. For the 2006/2007 season Basketball Ontario added two age categories - Major Atom (under 12) and Midget (under 15) girls and boys. In 2008/2009 season, Basketball Ontario decided to treat Select teams as any other competitive team. 

Select players might participate in exhibition games, competitive tournaments, Provincial tournaments (if applicable) ... AND in their regular house league program. The commitment is more than that of a house league, but less than that of a competitive team.

There will be an additional cost for players in KYBA Select teams. These funds should cover for games, tournaments and provincial championship registration fees (if applicable).
