The Kanata Youth Basketball Association (KYBA) is thrilled to present a program that caters to all youth with a passion for basketball, regardless of their aspirations! The KYBA offers programs to suit player needs ranging from those who are just starting out to the experienced competitive player. Both practice and league play are designed to offer equal measures of player enjoyment (FUN), physical fitness and personal skill development. However, each player has a different view of what constitutes fun, fitness and skill development.
To address these varying objectives, the KYBA offers the following programs:
Entry Level - Tykes (for ages 5-7)
Great introduction to the sport(*Note: 7 year olds with basketball experience can choose novice house league).

House League
House League, which represents the basic level of play in all its divisions; this is our most widely used program. It welcomes players of all skill levels, including beginners, from ages 7 to 19!

House League Selects
KYBA offers an opportunity to be a part of the House League Selects, as an enhancement for players committed to house league play, which exposes players to more challenging competition by participating in local competitive tournaments;

Competitive - Ottawa Next Level (ONL)
The A, AA, AAA Competitive Teams (Ottawa Next Level), which is built on the instruction of basketball fundamentals with the aim to develop and improve on players skills and abilities. The ONL teams operate from U10-U19, with separate teams for boys and girls.

Center For Excelleance ONL-X
For athletes aspiring to continue their basketball journey beyond high school and preparing for post-secondary opportunities will benefit from our Center For Excellence - ONL-X program.
Junior Referees
The KYBA recognizes the value of providing its players (both current and former) and general members with the opportunity to learn a different facet of the game—officiating—through ourJunoir Referee Program.
Refereeing not only helps young players enhance their understanding of the game but also aids in developing their leadership skills, decision-making, and management abilities.
More than 150 Junior referees are currently part of the program.

Spring 3on3, Summer League and Skills session
KYBA also offers Spring 3-on-3 Programs, an enjoyable Summer league, Summer day camps, and a variety of skill sessions throughout the year.
All House League and Entry Level Tykes practices and games (except for occasional inter-association tournaments) are held in
gymnasiums of local Kanata schools.
Practices are held on weekday evenings between 6-10pm, with the earliest times going to our youngest players. Some teams may have practice on one weekend day, with their game on the opposite weekend day. Games are held on weekends.
KYBA offers separate male and female programs at all age levels of house league. Our Entry level programs are co-ed.
No movement of players between male and female teams is permitted regardless of the circumstances.
